| 2011 Business Plan released - - 29/04/2011
Committee delivering for Portland.
The Committee for Portland is proud of its achievements in 2010 with the highlights of the past year being the lobbying and advocacy to the Government on key issues impacting Portland.
• Renewable Energy Hub of Australia • Transport Infrastructure • Electricity Contract for Portland Aluminium/Carbon Pollution reduction Scheme.
The Committee plays a critical role in bringing the business community together to develop ideas and actions that will ensure the future success of Portland. Through well supported members dinners and community breakfasts the committee has established itself as a united group whose focus is to network, advocate and deliver projects for the Portland community.
The Committee has established a clear and accountable strategic plan for 2011. Executive Officer, Anita Rank said “A range of projects and advocacy roles are the focus of 2011 but the priority at the moment is the delivery of the Future Leaders of Business Program and the Helipad development”.
“The Future Leaders of Business Program is a specialist leadership and management course targeted at existing leaders or managers and those who aspire to such roles” said Ms Rank. “The course is conducted by South West Tafe in partnership with the Committee for Portland”. Enrolments for the Diploma of Management are now being taken by Katie Cook at South West Tafe. The program will commence May 24, 2011.
The Committee for Portland has been working with Portland District Health to ensure adequate resources are available for the development of a comprehensive application for the Planning Minister of the proposed Helipad. The Committee is now calling on all members of the community to assist by making financial contributions towards this vital project.
“At the end of the day, if one life is saved because the best medical care is made available to the community, then this project is worth it” said Ms Rank.
Enquiries & Contribution can be made by contacting Anita Rank on 0407802302.
